Moving to New Franklin

This area was founded in 1817 and was originally known as Franklin Township until it was merged with a neighboring town in 2005 to become New Franklin. With cities like Barberton and Norton to the north along the way to Akron about 15 miles away, this small town has established itself as a quiet and comfortable community.

Back in 2000, the area had just over 2,100 residents until the 2005 merger led to a large boost in the numbers. After the 2010 census found about 14,000 locals in the city, it hasn’t wavered much from that over the last decade. With a current New Franklin population of about 14,100 people, it has become a great place for people looking to retire with a median age of about 48 years old.

Are you thinking about relocating to New Franklin to enjoy the quiet, enjoyable atmosphere? Krupp Moving has been assisting with both residential and commercial transitions in the area since 2005. You can count on our reliable team of New Franklin movers to take care of you and relieve the stress of your upcoming move.

New Franklin neighborhoods are spread out over an area of nearly 27 square miles. The most popular communities can be found near the northeast part of town surrounding the Portage Lakes State Park. Other nice neighborhoods in the area include places west of the Tuscarawas River by the Spring Hills Golf Course, as well as to the southeast by the Nimisila Reservoir.

Speaking of Portage Lakes, the state park area offers some of the best things to do in New Franklin, including outdoor activities like boating, camping, fishing, and more. While wine connoisseurs will love a visit to the Red Horse Winery, offering beautiful scenery and a great selection of drinks. Other fun things to do can be found close by in neighboring cities.

With less than 2,000 school-age children in the area, New Franklin schools are fairly small. The main options available in town are near the southeast border and include Nolley Elementary, Manchester Middle School, and Manchester High.

If you’re looking for work in the area, you’ll likely find New Franklin jobs are few and far between. Apart from local retail locations and a few independent businesses, the area is mostly residential. The city’s top employers include Andrews Landscaping, Portage Lake Eagles Club, and RCG Marketing Solutions.

Comparable to Akron nearby, New Franklin weather has freezing cold winters but also offers comfortable summer temperatures in the low 80s. If you’re planning on living in New Franklin, make sure you come prepared for snow as the area gets over 40 inches each year with temps reaching lows in the teens and highs in the mid-30s.
