Akron Early College High School

This by-admissions public high school in Akron is associated with the University of Akron, designed to give students a headstart towards their careers. By the time they graduate, many students have enough college credits for an Associate’s Degree.

Buchtel Community Learning Center

Since opening in 2012, the Buchtel Community Learning Center has been dedicated to providing students with a safe, encouraging, learning environment.

East Community Learning Center

The teachers at this Akron high school have an average of 19 years of teaching experience! Unique programs include certifications in welding, hospitality, marketing, IT and engineering.

Ellet High School

Built in 1950, this is one of the longer-standing schools in the Akron Public School System. In addition to science, math and writing courses, studies can also choose from a variety of unique classes, including veterinary science, construction technology, and interior design.

Firestone Community Learning Center (Akron School for the Arts)

This is Akron’s premier school for the arts, where students can study dance, music, fine arts and more, while also having opportunities for career-oriented courses such as business management. Firestone has a 95% graduation rate and is accredited by the International Baccalaureate program.

Kenmore-Garfield High School

Serving around 1,000 students each year, Kenmore-Garfield High School has a highly diverse student body. Like other schools in the district, KGHS focuses on career and college readiness, with learning paths in advance manufacturing, nursing and more.

National Inventors Hall of Fame STEM High School

Another high school associated with the University of Akron, the NIHF STEM High School offers rigorous studies to help prepare students for careers in STEM-related fields. Courses include biotechnology, anatomy, applied statistics, engineering design and more.

North High School

This high school was the first in Akron to fully implement the city’s College and Career Academies program. Students can take classes in everything from infant-toddler education to marketing principles, plus numerous Advanced Placement courses.
